Tank Lining – Concrete Tank Relining

THE PROBLEM

The hotel water tank was causing water hygiene issues and required a hygienic, WRAS approved tank lining.

SOLUTION

We proposed the relining of the tank using a WRAS approved epoxy tank lining.

Initially the existing bitumen tank lining was removed by method of abrasive blasting to ensure excellent adhesion of the new tank lining to the concrete substrate.

As part of the tank relining process to ensure a seamless pin hole free finish a cementitious fairing coat was applied throughout the tank to fill blow holes in the concrete.

The tank was then heated to ensure that the grout coat was fully cured and excess moisture removed.

This was followed by the application of two coats of a WRAS approved epoxy tank lining in contrasting colours as per good coating practice.

Finally the new tank lining was spark tested using for pin holing to ensure a seamless, pin hole free finish.
