Slip Resistant Walkway, Norfolk

THE PROBLEM

The existing polyurethane screeds had worn and the usage area of the area meant that they did not provide the necessary levels of slip resistance. Previously applied slip resistant walkways had debonded and a durable solution was required.

THE SOLUTION

We propose the application of a heavy duty road grip system from Remmers in the form of PUR Grip 100.

Initially all surface to when the resin flooring was to be applied were prepared by method of vacuum controlled scabbling and diamond grinding. This served to removed both loosed and failing material, but also to provide an excellent mechanical profile for the new slip resistant resin flooring to adhere to.

Once prepared all surfaces to be coated were vacuumed clean to ensure proper adhesion between the resin and substrate. Areas not to be coated were masked to ensure a crisp and aesthetically pleasing finish.

Remmers PUR Grip 100 was applied by squeegee and roller, then immediately dressed with 1 – 3mm bauxite in order to provide a very high level of slip resistance.

Once cured any loose and unbound aggregates were removed using soft brooms and vacuums.

A flexible polyurethane resin in safety yellow was then applied again by squeegee and roller in order to clearly demarcate the intended safe route, taking care not to oversaturate the previous coat which would result in a reduction in the slip resistance offered.
