Industrial Epoxy Flooring Norfolk

THE PROBLEM

Our client required a cost effective epoxy flooring system to improve the aesthetics of a tired area of the warehouse.

SOLUTION

We proposed the application of a high build epoxy flooring system in the form of Flowcrete SF41 as we have used elsewhere within the factory previously.

All existing coatings were removed by method of vacuum controlled diamond grinding to provide a perfect surface for the new epoxy flooring to adhere to. We utilized our remote control HTC floor grinder that offers no hand arm vibration exposure to our installers with combined dust extraction equipment.

To ensure absolutely no disruption to the factories operations the area was segregated using lightweight sheeting during the preparation works due to the sensitive nature of the business operations.

All existing jointing compounds were removed using a vacuum controlled floor saw as per best practice when installing epoxy flooring.

Testing the concrete moisture content

The moisture content of the concrete was tested and recorded using a Tramex moisture meter, ensuring that the concrete was below 4% as prescribed by the manufacturer. This forms part of our standard resin flooring quality assurance.

Prior to applying the epoxy flooring the relative humidity and dew point were also tested and recorded, something many other epoxy flooring contractors often overlook.

Applying the Flowcrete SF41

Flowcrete SF41 was applied in two heavy coats at a thickness of 0.5Kg/m2- a generous consumption rate. Between coats minor defects were filled using a twin component filler and sanded flat using a vacuum controlled orbital sander.

Finally as per best epoxy flooring practice the expansion joints were recut using a vacuum controlled floor saw and sealed using a flexible polyurethane jointing compound. Failure to do so can lead to cracking in the new epoxy flooring as epoxy resins do not have sufficient flexibility to accommodate the movement that may occur in these areas.

Our client was extremely pleased with the works and the appearance of the area was truly transformed.
