Firefighting water storage tank

THE PROBLEM

The firefighting water storage tank was leaking and required a new lining.

THE SOLUTION

We proposed the removal of the defective sand cement tank lining and application of a seamless flexible tank lining in the form of Remmers MB2K.

Initially all defective areas of render were removed using vibration damped breakers. The sound render and the concrete base were prepared by method of vacuum controlled diamond grinding to remove surface laitance and contaminants and ensure excellent adhesion of the new tank lining.

Once prepared all areas were primed using Remmers Kiesol which penetrates and consolidates the substrate.

All corners and cracks were reinforced using Remmers SK Bandage embedded in an additional coat of Remmers MB2K to afford the tank lining additional strength in the areas required.

Remmers MB2K is particularly suited for application to concrete and blockwork water retaining structures due to its ability to crack bridge to 2mm.

The tank relining was completed with the application of Remmers MB2K in three coats to a thickness of 2mm.
